Privacy Policy
Last updated: 14 July 2026
This policy explains what personal data Rightee collects, why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and what rights you have.
It applies to the Rightee mobile app, the Rightee Apple Watch app, our website at https://rightee.golf, and our emails and notifications.
Who we are
4 Precision Ltd is the controller of your personal data.
| Company | 4 Precision Ltd (company number 13382839) |
| Registered office | 13 St. Swithin's Lane, Room 2, London, England, EC4N 8AL |
| Contact | contact@4precision.co.uk |
| Contact form | https://rightee.golf/contact/ |
| EU representative (UK GDPR / EU GDPR Article 27) |
We have not appointed a Data Protection Officer. We are not required to. Send all privacy questions to contact@4precision.co.uk.
1. Summary
- We collect the data we need to run a golf app: your account details, your rounds, your location while you play, and how you use the app.
- If you use the social features, we also process what you post, who you connect with, and the messages you send.
- We use analytics and advertising tools. You control advertising tracking through the prompt Apple shows you and through your device settings.
- We do not sell your personal data.
- We do not collect health data through Apple HealthKit. The Rightee Watch app does not read from or write to HealthKit.
- Payment card details never reach us. Apple handles all payments.
- You can delete your account, and your data, from inside the app.
2. What we collect
2.1 Data you give us
| Category | Examples |
|---|---|
| Account | Name or display name, email address, password (stored encrypted) |
| Social sign-in | If you sign up with Apple, Google or Facebook, we receive the identifier and email address they give us. We do not receive your password. If you use Sign in with Apple and choose to hide your email, we receive a relay address only. |
| Profile | Profile photo, bio, home course, gender (if you tell us, because it affects handicap and tee calculations), playing preferences |
| Onboarding answers | The answers you give to the questions we ask when you first set up the app |
| Golf data | Rounds, hole by hole scores, shots, clubs used, courses played, statistics, handicap inputs |
| Social content | Posts, comments, photos, shared rounds, likes, group membership, connections, direct messages |
| Side games | Game format, the stake amount you enter, and the resulting calculation. We do not process any payment or money transfer. |
| Contacts | If you give permission, we read your phone contacts so we can find golfers you may already know. We do not store them. Permission is optional and the app works without it. |
| Support | Anything you send us by email or through the contact form, including screenshots and account details |
| Reports | If you report content or a user, the report itself and the material you send with it |
2.2 Data we collect automatically
| Category | Examples |
|---|---|
| Location | Precise GPS location while you use location features, including in the background and while your device is locked during a round. Location is used to give distances, aim recommendations and weather, and to record shots. |
| Device | Device model, operating system version, app version, language, time zone, country, network type |
| Identifiers | Device identifiers, app instance identifiers, and (only if you allow tracking, see section 5) the Apple advertising identifier (IDFA) |
| Usage | Screens viewed, features used, taps, session length, paywall views, trial and subscription events, errors and crash reports |
| Subscription | Subscription status, plan, trial status, renewal and cancellation events, received from Apple through RevenueCat. We never see your card number. |
| Notifications | Push token, whether you opened a notification |
| Whether you opened an email or clicked a link in it | |
| Website | Pages viewed, referrer, IP address, cookie data. See our Cookie Policy. |
2.3 Data we do not collect
- We do not collect payment card, bank or billing details. Apple handles payment.
- We do not read from or write to Apple HealthKit.
- We do not access your calendar, microphone or SMS.
- We do not collect special category data (such as health, religion, ethnicity or sexual orientation) on purpose. If you put such information into a post, a bio or a message, you are choosing to make it public, and you are responsible for that.
3. Why we use your data, and our lawful basis
| What we do | Data used | Lawful basis (UK GDPR / EU GDPR) |
|---|---|---|
| Create and run your account | Account, profile | Performance of a contract |
| Give you distances, Smart Aim, weather, green maps and shot tracking | Location, golf data, device | Performance of a contract |
| Record your rounds, scores, statistics and handicap | Golf data | Performance of a contract |
| Run the social features: profiles, connections, feeds, groups, leaderboards, messages | Social content, profile | Performance of a contract |
| Run side games and calculate who owes what | Side game data, golf data | Performance of a contract |
| Sell, activate, renew and cancel subscriptions | Account, subscription | Performance of a contract |
| Send you service messages (for example a receipt, a password reset, a security alert, a change to these terms) | Account | Performance of a contract |
| Keep the Service safe: moderate content, filter text and images, investigate reports, block abusive users, prevent fraud | Social content, account, device, reports | Legitimate interests (protecting users and the Service) and, for illegal content, Legal obligation (Online Safety Act 2023) |
| Protect children on the Service | Date of birth, account, social content | Legal obligation and Legitimate interests |
| Find golfers you may already know | Contacts | Consent. You can withdraw it at any time in your device settings. |
| Understand how the app is used and improve it | Usage, device, golf data | Legitimate interests (running and improving a product people want to use) |
| Measure how well our advertising works and reach similar audiences | Usage, identifiers, subscription events | Consent (through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt and, on the website, our cookie banner) |
| Send you marketing emails and push notifications | Account, email engagement, push token | Consent, or legitimate interests where you are an existing customer and we are telling you about similar features (you can opt out at any time) |
| Comply with the law, respond to regulators, and deal with legal claims | Any of the above | Legal obligation and Legitimate interests |
| Keep accounting and tax records | Subscription | Legal obligation |
Where we rely on legitimate interests, we have considered whether our interest is outweighed by your rights. You can object at any time (see section 9).
4. Location data
Location is core to Rightee. Read this carefully.
- We collect precise location, not approximate location.
- We collect it while the app is in use, and in the background during an active round, including when your device is locked. This is how the Apple Watch app and shot tracking work.
- We use it to calculate distances, to generate Smart Aim recommendations, to fetch wind and weather for your position, to record where your shots were played from, and to identify which course you are on.
- We do not use your location to build an advertising profile of where you go.
- You can switch location access off at any time in your device settings. The core features will stop working.
5. Advertising and tracking
- We advertise Rightee on Meta platforms (Facebook and Instagram).
- The first time you use the app, Apple will show you the App Tracking Transparency prompt asking whether Rightee can track you across apps and websites owned by other companies.
- If you say no, we do not use the advertising identifier and we do not share event data with Meta for cross-app tracking. We still measure aggregate campaign performance through Apple's privacy-preserving attribution (SKAdNetwork).
- If you say yes, we share limited event data (such as install, signup, trial start and subscription) with Meta so we can measure our advertising and reach similar audiences.
- You can change your answer at any time in Settings, Privacy and Security, Tracking.
- We do not sell your personal data.
6. Who we share your data with
We share personal data with the service providers below. They act on our instructions under a written contract and may not use your data for their own purposes, except where noted.

| URLGenius | Deep links and campaign links | US |
| OpenWeather | Wind, weather and forecast data used by Smart Aim. Receives the coordinates that a forecast is requested for. | UK / EU |
| Our software development partner | Builds and maintains the Rightee backend and mobile apps. Their engineers may access production systems, and therefore personal data, in order to fix faults and ship releases. | Brazil |
We may also share personal data:
- with law enforcement, regulators, courts or other authorities, where we are required to by law, or where we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to prevent serious harm, particularly to a child;
- with our professional advisers (lawyers, accountants, insurers) where they need it;
- with a buyer or potential buyer, if our business or assets are sold, in which case we will tell you and the buyer will be bound by this policy;
- with other users, where you choose to share it. If your profile is public, other users can see your display name, profile photo, home course, handicap and shared rounds. See section 8.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with data brokers.
7. Sending data outside the UK and the EEA
Your data is primarily hosted in the European Union. Some of our providers, and our development partner, are outside the UK and the EEA.
Where we transfer personal data out of the UK or the EEA, we rely on one of the following:
- an adequacy decision made by the UK Government or the European Commission;
- the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and the UK Extension to it, where the provider is certified under it;
- Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission, together with the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, plus a transfer risk assessment and additional safeguards where needed.
Brazil. Our software development partner is based in Brazil. Brazil is not currently covered by a UK or EU adequacy decision. Transfers to them are made under Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK Addendum, with contractual restrictions on what they may access and what they may do with it.
You can ask us for a copy of the safeguards we use by emailing contact@4precision.co.uk.
8. Social features, and what other people can see
Your content is private by default. Your rounds, scores, posts, photos, home course and statistics are visible only to connections you have accepted. You can choose to make individual content public.
Your identity is discoverable by default. Your display name, profile photo and handicap can be found in search, and you may be shown as a suggested connection to other golfers. Suggestions are based on your phone contacts (if you allow contacts access) and on golf courses you and another golfer have both played.
Somebody who is not one of your connections can see only your display name, your profile photo and your handicap. They cannot see your rounds, your home course, your posts or your statistics, and they cannot send you a message.
You can turn discoverability off at any time in Settings.
Direct messages. Only accepted connections can message you. Messages are stored on our servers so we can deliver them. They are not end to end encrypted. We do not read your messages routinely. We may access them where we need to investigate a report, deal with a safety or legal issue, or comply with the law.
Connection requests. Anyone can send you a connection request. Accepting one gives that person access to your content and the ability to message you. Only accept requests from people you know.
Contacts. If you give permission, Rightee reads your phone contacts and matches them against Rightee accounts so we can suggest golfers you may already know. We do not store your contacts. They are used to make the match and are not retained afterwards. We do not use them for advertising, we do not sell them, and we do not share them. You can withdraw permission at any time in your device settings, and Rightee works perfectly well without it.
Content you delete. When you delete a post, we remove it from the Service. Copies may remain in backups for a limited period, and other users may already have screenshotted or shared it. We may keep a record of content we removed for safety or legal reasons.
9. Children
- The minimum age for a Rightee account is 13. Side games and wagering features are for users aged 18 and over.
- If you are under the age of digital consent in your country (13 in the UK, up to 16 in parts of the EEA), you need a parent or guardian's consent to use Rightee, and they must agree to our Terms on your behalf.
- We do not ask for your date of birth and we do not verify age. We rely on you telling us the truth about your age when you accept our Terms.
- Because we do not know a user's age, the privacy protections described in section 8 apply to every account in the same way. Content is private by default for everyone, and only accepted connections can send a message to anyone.
- If we learn that we hold data about a child under 13, we will delete the account and the data.
- Parents and guardians: if you believe your child has given us data, or you want your child's account removed, email contact@4precision.co.uk and we will delete it. If you are worried about someone contacting your child on Rightee, use the Report and Block tools in the app, or email us, and we will act.
10. How long we keep data
| Data | How long |
|---|---|
| Account and profile | Until you delete your account |
| Rounds, scores and statistics | Until you delete your account, or until you delete the round |
| Social content (posts, comments, photos, messages) | Until you delete it, or until you delete your account |
| Backups | Deleted data is purged from backups within 30 days |
| Subscription and purchase records | 7 years from the end of the relevant tax year (HMRC requirement) |
| Analytics data (Mixpanel) | 24 months from collection, then deleted or aggregated so it can no longer identify you |
| Moderation records: reports, content we removed, action we took, accounts we banned | Up to 3 years, so we can enforce bans, handle appeals, and evidence our compliance with the Online Safety Act 2023 |
| Records relating to illegal content or a risk to a child | For as long as we are required to keep them, and for as long as necessary for any investigation |
| Contacts | Not retained. Used to make the match, then discarded. |
| Support emails | 2 years |
| Marketing consent and opt-out records | For as long as we need them to honour your choice |
When you delete your account, we delete or irreversibly anonymise your personal data within 30 days, except for the categories above that we are required or permitted to keep for longer.
11. Security
- Data in transit is encrypted using TLS. Data at rest is encrypted by our hosting providers.
- Passwords are stored hashed, not in plain text.
- Access to production systems is limited to the people who need it and is protected by multi-factor authentication.
- We use automated filters on text and images to prevent harmful content being posted.
- No system is completely secure. If a personal data breach happens that is likely to result in a risk to your rights, we will notify the Information Commissioner's Office within 72 hours and, where the risk is high, we will notify you.
12. Your rights
Wherever you are, you can:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct it if it is wrong. Most of it you can correct yourself in the app.
- Delete your account and your data, from inside the app or by asking us.
- Object to processing we carry out on the basis of legitimate interests, including profiling for analytics.
- Restrict processing in certain circumstances.
- Portability: ask for a copy of the data you gave us, in a machine readable format, or ask us to send it to someone else.
- Withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent. This does not affect anything we did before you withdrew it.
- Opt out of marketing by using the unsubscribe link in any email, switching off notifications in the app or in your device settings, or emailing us.
To exercise any of these, email contact@4precision.co.uk. We will respond within one month. We may ask you to verify your identity first. We do not charge for this unless a request is manifestly unfounded or excessive.
Complaints. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, tell us first at contact@4precision.co.uk. You also have the right to complain to a supervisory authority:
- United Kingdom: Information Commissioner's Office, https://ico.org.uk, telephone 0303 123 1113.
- European Economic Area: the data protection authority in the country where you live, work, or where you think the problem happened.
13. Automated decision making
We do not make decisions that produce legal effects for you, or similarly significantly affect you, based solely on automated processing.
We do use automated systems to filter text and images at the point of posting, and to flag content and accounts for review. Where an automated system restricts your content or your account, you can ask a person to review it, and you can appeal. See our Terms of Service, section 7.8.
14. Cookies
Our app does not use cookies. Our website does. See our Cookie Policy.
15. Information for users in the United States
This section applies in addition to the rest of this policy if you live in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas, or another US state with a comprehensive privacy law.
Categories of personal information we collect: identifiers, customer records, commercial information (subscription history), internet and app activity, geolocation data, audio, electronic or visual information (photos you upload), inferences drawn from the above, and, if you tell us, protected classifications such as age and gender.
Purposes: as set out in section 3.
Sources: you, your device, and our service providers (Apple, Meta, our analytics providers).
We do not sell your personal information for money.
We may "share" it for cross-context behavioural advertising, as those terms are defined in the California Consumer Privacy Act, when you consent to tracking through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt, or through advertising cookies on our website. You can opt out at any time by declining or revoking tracking permission in your device settings, and by rejecting advertising cookies on our website. We honour the Global Privacy Control signal on our website.
We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16.
Your rights: you may request to know, access, correct, delete, and obtain a portable copy of your personal information, and to opt out of sharing for targeted advertising. You may not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. Where your state provides a right of appeal against our decision, you may appeal by emailing contact@4precision.co.uk with "Privacy Appeal" in the subject line.
To make a request, email contact@4precision.co.uk. An authorised agent may make a request on your behalf with written authorisation.
Sensitive personal information. We collect precise geolocation, which is sensitive personal information under California law. We use it only to provide the app's core golf features. We do not use or disclose it to infer characteristics about you.
16. Information for users in Australia
We handle personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). Your data is stored outside Australia, primarily in the European Union, and may be accessed from the United States, the United Kingdom and Brazil (see sections 6 and 7). By using Rightee you consent to that disclosure. If you wish to complain about how we have handled your personal information, contact us at contact@4precision.co.uk. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at https://www.oaic.gov.au.
17. Information for users in Canada
We handle personal information in accordance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). Your data is stored and processed outside Canada and may be accessible to foreign courts and authorities under the law of those countries. You may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at https://www.priv.gc.ca.
18. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. If a change is material, we will tell you by in-app notice or email at least 14 days before it takes effect, unless we need to make it sooner for legal reasons. The date at the top tells you when it was last updated.
